Lobster Mushroom (Hypomyces lactifuorum) is really not a mushroom but a parasitic ascomycete. Hypomyces lactifluorum grows on certain species of mushrooms, turning them a reddish orange color that resembles the outer shell of cooked lobster.
One of the best ways to rehydrate dried lobster mushrooms is soaking them in vegetable stock for about 15 to 30 minutes.
